DNA 04: DNA profiling
A blood stain was recovered from a crime scene and a suspect was later arrested.
The DNA profiles of the crime stain and the suspect showed a match for the genotypes 7/7 at THO1, 9/12 at TPOX and 11/12 at CSF1PO.
Use the allele probabilities:
p(THO1 / 7) = 0.316,
p(TPOX / 9) = 0.100; p(TPOX / 12) = 0.020,
p(CSF1PO / 11) = 0.261; p(CSF1PO / 12) = 0.362
Assume Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium to calculate the probability of a match with a random person, and the equivalent likelihood ratio.
